June 11, 2012: The Day after Pacquiao-Bradley Fight

If I were CR Ross and Duane Ford, I would retire from being a boxing judge.  They are the authors of the most infamous scoring in recent boxing history.  I do not if they should even be allowed to judge 4 rounders.

If I were Bob Arum, I would do everything to make Pacquiao-Mayweather happen.  He needs to save the face of Top Rank after the travesty that happened yesterday. If he truly wants to save boxing, he needs to make the biggest non-heavyweight match of all-time. If not, boxing will die and Arum will just be picking up pennies.

If I were Pacquiao, I would not sign up for a rematch against Bradley. What for? Rematch is for losers and if he wants to move on then he would let Bradley eat that WBO belt. It is time to take the high road and inform Arum that his plan of having a "Grand Theft" trilogy won't cut it.

If I were WBO, I would remove the sanctions of judges involved in the fight. WBO's name is tainted after what happened and one of their "World" title belts is deemed worthless. If they want their organization to thrive, they have to show the public that they are indeed serious and not a pseudo-WWE.

If I were Bradley, I would concede the fight.  Being the winner of the biggest heist in boxing is not going to help him get bigger fights. It will forever put his record in doubt. It is like having an asterisk in your records.

If I were an adviser of Pacquiao, I would strongly suggest to Manny that he should start making plans of his own rather than be a puppet of Arum.  Arum is probably looking for a replacement of Manny at his own expense. He should be wary and pick the right opponents if possible not from Top Rank.

If I were a friend and family of Manny, I would keep him company in the coming weeks. The loss has not sunk in yet and definitely it will hurt and a good support system is important for recovery. He has changed his lifestyle and there could be a chance that he will try to revert to his old self. It is time to reassure and encourage him to survive this "test of faith".

If I were a serious boxing follower, I would BOYCOTT the planned rematch.  Shame on you if you let them fool you twice. Good luck to Top Rank in their next events. It is like they are shooting Rocky II and Rocky III before Rocky I is being filmed.  It is better to watch old Rocky movies than watching Pacquiao-Bradley II. lol

June 8, 2012 If I were...

If I were BAYO, I would highlight more about being Filipino rather than saying mixed Filipino is an almost "sure formula" for success.  The BUY FILIPINO statement somewhat contradicts their opening line and the "Buy Filipino" phrase would appear directed to a foreigner who would want to have a child who will gain fame and a fighting chance to be world class. It could be misconstrued that way and the tourism goes up lol.  And it could be part of the It's more fun in the Philipines campaign with a byline of It's more fun in the Philippines because you can create world-class babies. It becomes like an ad to have children with Filipinos rather than buying BAYO. With that joke, my unsolicited advise to Bayo is that there are surely a million better ways to promote Filipino products so go back to the drawing board and make a new concept.  Good thing, they apologized and took down the ads. If it is all about mix and match then they should hire Americans, Australians, and Africans and say that Bayo makes you look good regardless of your race, class, ethnicity, social status, etc.

If I were the sole winner of the 87.7 million pesos prize in tonight's PCSO 6/49 Lotto Draw, I would sell my ticket for 90 million to a politician or government official who is having a hard time in making his SALN. Winning the lottery is a good excuse for sudden enrichment. ;)

If I  were the Oklahoma Thunder, I would postpone any parties for winning the Western Conference Finals because the real prize is winning the Larry O'Brien Trophy.  They definitely have what it takes to start a major title run. They are young and hungry and they could probably win many titles in the next couple of years.

If I were President P-noy, I would definitely pick a new Chief Justice from outside the current roster of Supreme Court justices. The Supreme Court was a collegial body when it made some controversial decisions while impeached Renato Corona was sitting as CJ.  A good candidate could be someone a bit old and has no history of corruption. Though it may be hard to find that. ;)

If I were in Baguio or in nearby towns, I would watch and support the Ronda Pilipinas 2012. Cycling is probably one of the sports that we can excel. Since our cyclists cannot afford the expensive drugs that world class cyclists use, we can probably claim that we have the "cleanest" tour in the world. ;)

May 24, 2012 If I were....

If I were Chief Justice Renato Corona, I would subject my self to direct and cross examination.  Prove your innocence or just resign.

If I were the 188 Congressman and Drilon, I would sign the waiver. Let's see who got the bigger balls. I admire the "balls" of this lady.

If I were a lawyer for the defense, I would resign if CJ will refuse to be a part of the trial.  Atty. Cuevas almost resigned.

If I were a Senator, I would listen to what my constituents think. You were voted to represent the every Juan. ;)

If I were the Basas, I would start planning for a case to be filed after the impeachment. If Corona wins, plans should be postponed indefinitely.

If I were an American Idol fanatic, I would buy Jessica Sanchez' album when it comes out.  The real competition starts after every vote is cast. Hopefully, Sanchez will have a record-breaking album.
If I were Jessica Sanchez, I would start singing up tempo, contemporary song. She should start singing songs that sells. ;)

May 2012: If I were ...

After watching Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, I decided to make an If I were post dedicated to PBA.

If I were a basketball fan, I will definitely watch Game 7 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup finals.

If I were a sports writer, I will consider Jared Dillinger as finals MVP (the boy does not know how to give up).

If I were Jimmy Alapag, I will come home from my "vacation".

If I were Manny V. Pangilinan, I will give big bonuses to the TNT players and staff...win or lose.

If I were Fred Uytengsu and Joaqui Trillo, I will watch Game 7 and support Tim Cone.
If I were GMA or ABS-CBN, I will give a good bid next time the PBA broadcast is up for grabs. (Unless MVP buys GMA 7).
If I were a high school or college varsity player, I will watch Game 7 live and see how it feels to be in such important game. It will surely inspire you to play better.

If I were for the 2nd Week of March

If I were Arnold Clavio, I would clarify my statements regarding the Azkals. I am sure the issue is all a big misunderstanding.

If I were Kobe Bryant, I would be happy with the trades made by the Lakers in the trade deadline. Sessions will definitely do better than Fisher numbers wise.

If I were the producer of the 20 things I dislike about the Philippines, I would tone down on the cussing in the script. Cursing makes the satire sound like a really big insult. A lot of people including foreigners felt that the guy should leave the Philippines.

If I were a Department of Tourism official, I would take note on the observations of the said video. The truth hurts but we cannot live in denial forever. Little improvements could go a long way.

If I were from the Fire Department, I would disseminate information about fire prevention. It is fire prevention month and there seems to be fire everyday.

If I were Juvic Pagunsan, I would be so proud of my performance in the recent World Golf Championships- Cadillac Open. Who knows, one day will he will become the first Filipino to win a major.

If I were Renato Corona, I would testify in the senate impeachment court.  The Chief Justice is the best witness to clarify all the accusations made by the prosecution.

If I were for 1st Week of March

If I were Senator Miriam Santiago, I would just calm down and make my VOTE as my ultimate message in the CJ Corona impeachment trial. If the prosecution is mediocre, so be it.

If I were Manny Pangilinan, I would definitely buy GMA 7. Hopefully, it would not make Philippine TV viewing boring hehehe.

If I were Floyd Mayweather, Jr., I would stop bashing Asians. He should fight Pacquiao instead after his jail time.

If I were to study medicine, I would study in Cebu. Well, Cebu Med Schools are quiet good.

If I were someone who failed in the past bar exams, I would take the 2012 exams. New exam format, multiple choice. ;)

If I were the Azkals, I will say sorry to Ms. Cristy Ramos. Stop fooling around and start winning, instead.

If I were P-Noy, I would start reform with new laws and hire the best lawyers to prosecute the corrupt. It's time to stop talking and start doing but it is really hard when your opponents have better lawyers. ;)

How about you? Do you have any unsolicited advise?
